Union County Human Services UCATS Supervisor

DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Deputy Director or Director, provides direct and indirect supervision to UCATS staff, develops and implements agency and state policy, rules and regulations; performs administrative duties, supervises employees to ensure state and federal mandates are met and safety issues are adequately addressed; plan, coordinate and schedule transportation needs; evaluate routing needs and effectiveness; assumes responsibility for coverage of absences of operations and office staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school degree or equivalent and work experience which meets the minimum essential functions of the position. Must have excellent communication skills --- reading, writing and polite phone etiquette.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(1) Supervises employees of UCATS; evaluates performance which may include accompanying staff on transports; develops quality control procedures and standards; ensures all work is in adherence to departmental standards and pertinent government regulations; issues oral and written reprimands and recommends suspension and termination; recommends personnel actions (e.g. leave of absence, wage increase, etc.); authorizes sick and vacation leave; provides training, guidance and direction; assists with the development of agency policy and procedures.

(2) Assumes responsibility for coverage of requested and unexpected absences of drivers and office staff; Assists in emergency situations; investigates customer complaints and transportation accidents; trains staff on all aspects of the work; assists with applications and reports and administers approved programs funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation and other agencies; prepares billing information; evaluates routing needs and effectiveness; coordinates and evaluates vehicle maintenance.
