RE Tech is seeking a Technical Writer who can develop and edit content for internal and client deliverables, communicate across project teams to ensure consistent and timely delivery of materials, work closely with and under the oversight of the Project Manager. The Technical Writer will work with stakeholders to create internal and external RE Tech collateral for social media, email, website, and print format to help promote the company, our services, and our expert knowledge in the field of sustainability. This position requires the ability to coordinate the creation of multiple reports simultaneously balancing internal and external resources, workloads and timelines. It also requires a strong grasp of grammar and formatting which includes the ability copyedit/proofread following a diverse range of editorial brand guidelines for each client deliverable.
This position is located within our McLean, Virginia office. After a successful onboarding, the position is open to a hybrid work model that includes a mix of in office and work from home, as well as flex scheduling. This role will, at times, require the employee to work extended workdays, including into the evening and on weekends to meet proposal deadlines. RE Tech supports workplace flexibility, enabling our team members to balance their working hours between busier and lighter periods.
Essential Job Functions / Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare written text for internal and client materials, such as: CSR/CR/ESG corporate reports, brochures, and ESG communications. Apply the correct language and tone based on the subject and target audience, and conduct research, as needed, generating a list of references and footnotes.
Provide suggestions on themes for the client work product.
Collaborate and work in conjunction with the design team to ensure that themes and content are represented accurately, and that client’s branding standards are followed throughout the document layout.
Participate in client calls, gathering information needed to generate deliverable. Handle follow up email communication with clients to obtain necessary information needed for work product.
Conduct research and due diligence on a subject, industry, company/organization or technology.
Create and curate RE Tech collateral including social media posts, email communications, website language, and printed/presented materials. Work with Project Manager to upkeep a timeline of these deliverables using Asana. When necessary, engage design team to assist with layout.
Copyedit content prior to delivery of the product to the client.
Maintain and ensure execution of your projects schedule including both delivery dates and production timelines. Coordinate with team members for deliverables, drafts, versions, and content in a timely manner.
Conduct research and interviews on behalf of the client for reports and other collateral. Take initiative to request information needed for preparing content, looking for opportunities to suggest content additions to the client based on research and interviews.
Ensure quality control of your written material and provide editorial assistance to others in reviewing and proofreading other communication projects/deliverables.
Properly and accurately track all of your time worked and expenses. Input on time in the expense and time keeping system, billing to the correct codes and using the correct labor categories.
Know and follow company policies and processes.
Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

Experience in utilizing asana (or like platform) as a project management system.

Strong written communication skills with a propensity to write in a clear, concise manner to convey points effectively, creatively, and with the appropriate tone and professionalism.
Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interact with and build confidence with internal and external contacts, including public speaking.
High degree of initiative, proactiveness, drive, enthusiasm, energy, and follow through.
Proficiency with online collaboration and file sharing tools, such as SharePoint and the Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Required Education and/or Experience
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a marketing and communications role
Experience in consulting and sustainability related field is preferred.
Bonus Qualifications
Knowledge and experience drafting CSR/CR/ESG corporate reports and ESG communications
Knowledge and experience writing for sustainability frameworks such as TCFD, SASB, GRI and UN SDGs
Experience designing using the Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to review a spreadsheets or data visualizations to recognize and communicate trends happening within the data.
Experience with InCopy
Proficiency using Adobe Live Links for content markup
