Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a HVAC Mechanic 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals! This position will be on site at our Melbourne, FL location.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment and must have the ability to multi-task and manage several competing priorities at the same time. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Installs, services, modifies, rebuilds, and repairs air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunctions
Conducts maintenance program to prevent failures of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment
Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks.
Sets and adjusts controls and regulators; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork.
Familiar with the maintenance, repairs and overhauling of mechanical and electrical systems.
May service, modify, and maintain centralized HAC computer systems and make program corrections.
May be required to install and maintain high-technology lab environments.
Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED with 6 years of experience related to HVAC and/or Refrigeration
4 years of experience in a Facilities Lead or Sr. technician role.
Must possess a HVAC and/or Refrigeration Certificate
Experience using Maximo and Bldg. Automation systems and other maintenance management systems
Experience working in a mission critical facility environment
Must possess a Universal EPA License
Experience in maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions
Hands on experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance with special programs access
Preferred Qualifications:
Industrial HVAC experience
8 years of leadership experience working operational or facilities maintenance role
Familiar with aerospace equipment and manufacturing facilities infrastructure
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Utilizes Maximo computerized maintenance management system to schedule, and coordinates with the department planner for service requests/work orders and trouble calls.
Works closely with and/or provides advice and counsel to company and/or vendor representatives coordinating major facilities infrastructure and equipment maintenance.
Supervises employees and/or outside contractors who construct, maintain, and repair utilities systems, buildings, and infrastructure and equipment via the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air-conditioning, heating, painting, and/or general maintenance.
Supervises employees who maintain site infrastructure and building systems support the Melbourne site.
Collaborates with facilities engineering, projects, and other maintenance management teams to propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.
Supervises employees who maintain, repair, upgrade and replace facilities infrastructure assets.
Coordinates with personnel who administer maintenance and repair contracts.
Coordinate with site internal and external customers to provide reliable support and system confidence of all infrastructure and building systems.
Acts as an advisor to staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical and operational problems.
Exerts influence in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization.
Familiar with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Administers, extends, negotiates and terminates standard and nonstandard contracts. Conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. Examines estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepares bids; processes specifications, progress, and other reports; advises management of contractual rights and obligations; compiles and analyzes data; and maintains historical information.
Salary Range: $72,200 - $120,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
