Position Overview :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Firmware Validation Engineer. This role will consist of Firmware testing of Resideo security, safety and comfort related product offerings. A good candidate will have a working knowledge of related products. They will also be very familiar with a test lab environment and associated equipment. The candidate will need to be proficient in following test procedures and writing test reports that will be used by other Engineering teams. They must have a working knowledge of basic electrical principles as well. We need a team-minded individual with an excellent work ethic.

Key Skills/Responsibilities :

  • Has knowledge & experience using PCs, Windows, Outlook, Word, EXCEL, Teams etc.

  • Has a working knowledge of security systems products, features, and peripherals

  • Defines, develops and performs firmware validation test plans.

  • Ability to build test fixtures for testing firmware in products.

  • Has a basic understanding of wiring test setups.

  • Uses lab equipment, meters, oscilloscopes. Has soldering and wiring ability

  • Can write clear, concise and accurate test reports.

  • Ability to perform Ad Hoc testing to verify the correct operation of the control panel and all devices that connect to that panel.

  • Writes up bugs in our internal system when an issue is found. The details recorded will include: steps to duplicate, problems found, expected result and customer impact.

  • Reviews findings, tracks issues and recommends solutions.

  • Can assist the Team Leads in creating test cases when required.

  • Has a basic PC knowledge and understanding of Microsoft applications such as Teams, Word and Excel.

  • Reviews customer documentation for accuracy and correct content.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects.

  • Ability to work Independently, while being a "Team player".

  • Works closely with internal teams including engineers, technicians, marketing personnel & firmware development personnel to drive resolution of firmware and system issues.

  • Works with project stakeholders to turn product requirements into development and validation plans.

  • Listens to, understands and responds professionally to questions.

  • Participates in and role models a culture which emphasizes product quality.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years in a technical experience in a validation laboratory setting.

  • Minimum 5 years working knowledge of basic lab testing equipment.

  • Security product experience and knowledge.
