In this highly hands on role, the Senior Data Engineer will monitor, maintain, and extend UMP ’s Snowflake data cloud. You’ll work with the data engineering team to implement and enforce design standards across the enterprise data warehouse and subject matter experts to create and refine data models to be consumed for financial and operational analytics. This role will be directly responsible for data scripting & validation, developing & monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines and will work with emerging technologies in the data space to help identity and implement new tools and technologies to help scale and mature UMP ’s data platform.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

· Understand and enforce standard design principles across the EDW

· Work with third parties where necessary to build data pipelines to and from UMP’s data cloud

· Explore complex data structures to curate/normalize data for analysis by UMP’s analytics team

· Perform data scripting and validation, develop and monitor data pipelines

· Working closely with the data team to continuously refine our processes for cleanliness and efficiency

· Work with business subject matter experts to provide consistent data sets for analysis implementing complex business logic where necessary

· Further our data culture by educating our teams on responsible data usage

QUALIFICATIONS

· A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and/or certification(s)

· At least 5 years experience using complex SQL to solve business challenges

· At least 3 years experience working with ETL and cloud processes

· Advanced knowledge of SQL and database objects

· Familiarity with coding practices (Python/Javascript)

· Proficiency with process and project management methodologies, tools and processes

· Superior written and verbal communication skills

· Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be as hands on as necessary to get the job done in a collaborative, high energy environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is that of a typical office. The noise level and temperature in the work environment is usually moderate. Occasional travel will be required. Overtime, weekend, and evening work will be required as needed. Work may be stressful at times.
