Responsibilities The Outpatient Rehab Schegistrar is responsible for greeting, interviewing and communicating with patients and/or families or other representatives to obtain necessary demographic and financial information required for reimbursement of all services rendered. Responsible for scheduling procedures/visits for the GHMC Outpatient Rehab Department and accurately obtains required information for hospital records, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payer needs. Additionally, staff will ensure that patients have all necessary information regarding their coverage and benefits related to their visit and inform patients of their financial obligations prior to appointment. Duties also include managing work queues, communications with multiple departments, including outside physician offices, collection of deposits, co-pays and balances. Notifies Financial Advocates of any self-pay or uninsured patients. Records information into computer, pre-registers patients as scheduled. Enters orders for specific ancillary services rendered. Garnet Health System provides a compensation range to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits. When determining a team member’s compensation and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity). Qualifications Minimum Education: High School graduate or equivalent required; Minimum Experience: · One (1) year experience working within a hospital revenue cycle area, medical office/clinic or insurance company required. · Medical terminology required; · Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required; · ICD-10 coding and CPt-4 coding preferred; · Outpatient rehab experience preferred. Required Certification/Registration: · Medical Terminology certification, preferred. Working Conditions: Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards. Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs. Work is sedentary with intermittent walking and standing; some transportation of patient by wheelchair; operates a Personal Computer; reaches and handles forms; visual acuity required to type and read forms; requires ability to handle patients and family members under stressful conditions Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
