Position Description

As the Engineering Technician, you will be a member of a team to support the Undersea Warfare (USW) Electromagnetic Systems Department (Code 34) of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport (NUWCDIVNPT) in support of Communication Systems and Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare (EMW) programs.
In this role, you will:
Be involved in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintaining of a variety of products and equipment
Identify, analyze, and repair product failures and order and replace parts as needed
Determine and recommend which products or services best fit the customers' needs
Utilize general test equipment and special purpose equipment to perform troubleshooting, test equipment set up and operation, repair, and configuration management for the SubHDR.
Utilize general test equipment and tools and special purpose equipment to mate/unmate the SubHDR from the APG to perform specific tests of the components of the SubHDR to support OTA testing and for the mast to be RFI.
Perform and coordinate all work efforts in accordance with applicable health, safety, technical and QA requirements.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Active Secret clearance
US Citizenship
Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC (Common Access Card)
Ability to successfully pass a drug/background screening
High School Diploma/GED and 8-10 years of experience in related field
Bachelor's Degree will be considered in lieu of High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of experience in related field
Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Technical knowledge of SATCOM and SESIF SATCOM Equipment which includes FOT, NMT, TDMA Interface Processor (TIP), SHF EBEM is preferred
Knowledge of general test equipment, special purpose equipment, mast, and system types to perform troubleshooting, test equipment set up and operation, repair, and configuration management for overall program level support
Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and repair systems, preferably SATCOM systems, as an individual and in team situations
Ability to assess and respond to situations where standard procedures have failed in isolating or fixing problem equipment
Ability to promptly respond to telephone and email requests for technical support
Ability to travel up to 10% as necessary
Additional desired experience and skills:
- RF experience preferred
