Job Purpose:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) renders highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. The RN provides direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). The RN Directs and supervises other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards of care.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. BSN Preferred

  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas Required

  • Current Basic Life Support Certification Required

  • Additional Certifications as required by department

Related Work Experience and Other Skills:

  • Knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards and utilizes these when providing nursing care

  • Minimum one year experience as RN in any specialty area (fellowship is for RN transitioning into a new practice setting)

  • Works with confidential material

Job Roles:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality patient care is provided throughout the episode of care.

Job Description Addendum for Nurse Fellows:

  • Nurse Fellows will be required to sign a Nurse Fellowship Program commitment which details the expectations for the fellowship program.

  • Fellows are required to attend ALL classes and be able to follow the schedule of their assigned preceptors throughout the entire clinical rotation of the fellowship program.

  • A full-time, minimum of 36 hours per week schedule must be maintained throughout the first year of the fellowship program. Time off requests during the precepted portion of the program may not be granted.
