Warner Bros. International Television Production Italia (WBITVP Italia) is the Italian production company of the London-headquartered international television division of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.

WBITVP Italy is a new endeavour by the ITVP group to develop, produce and distributes local language content for public and commercial, VOD & SVOD channels in all major genres: Scripted TV & Film, Studio Entertainment and Docureality. The ITVP group’s high profile franchises include the entertainment shows The Bachelor, Cash for Trash, First Dates, CQC, The Repair Shop, F-boy Island and recent scripted successes include The Twelve, Love Me, ThuisHuis and Waterloo Road.

Your New Role...

Support all aspects of controllership activities for WBITVP Italia, liaising with local management and production accountants and the wider production teams. Responsibilities will include balance sheet reconciliations and local controls, management accounts, statutory accounts and audits, tax providers, and coordinating financial accounting requirements with production accountants. The role will report directly into the Central European Hub Controller in Netherlands and partner with the WBITVP Italia Business Director in Milan.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Responsibility for period-end close process, coordinating with the Production Accountants and external service providers. Working with local management and production accountants, responsibility for month end activities including intercompany recharges, quarterly production accrual entries, post-production accounting entries, real estate cost centre reconciliations and payroll journals.

  • Follow-up of provisions and accruals to ensure these are booked when required and released when actual costs are booked or when provision is no more required. Follow-up of tax & social contributions accruals & payments.

  • Liaise with ITVP Controllership Poland, Shared Delivery Centre (“SDC”, outsourcing partner for accounting and reconciliation processes) and other WBD accounting departments on accounting entries driven by them such as fixed asset and lease accounting, bonus and stock options and ensure associated taxes are accurately accrued and accounted for.

  • Oversight and explanation of material balances and movements to Business Director and Central Europe Hub Controller, prepare balance sheet reconciliations and participate in balance sheet reviews with Studios Controllership teams.

  • Overall balance sheet responsibility for local entity and primary point of contact for Studios Controllership, SDC and other external service partners.

  • Monitor SDC performance of open-item-managed accounts clearing activities (including cash and bank, AR and AP clearing), to substantiate appropriate and timely clearing.

  • Work with local management, production accountants and ITVP Controllership Poland to reconcile and manage the reconciliation and settlement of intercompany transactions.

  • Preparation of annual financial statements, management of audit process, preparation of audit support and principle point of contact for the auditors. Coordination of other regulatory compliance reporting.

  • Coordination with external service provider for Corporation Tax and Indirect Tax submissions to local tax regulators. Management of relationship with local service provider.

  • Provide local company reporting to support Warner Bros. Discovery’s quarterly footnote and other regulatory reporting disclosures. Provide support for local Corporate Finance activities as required.

  • Support Central Europe Hub Controller in their role as SME for application and interpretation of WB policies within production environment. Ensure Company management reporting is consistent with US GAAP and is up to date with relevant local GAAP.

  • Participate in systems development and deployment as required (SAP4 Hana implementation, electronic invoicing etc)

  • Local SAP owner including reconciliation to production accounting system, responsibility for production interface and resolving interface errors, set-up of new productions, and other master data changes.

  • Responsibility to ensure appropriate data integrity within primary and boundary accounting systems including c-items, MPM and project codes.

  • Coordinating with the production teams and local management, oversight of AP and expenses processes including the administration of bank accounts, credit cards and prepayment cards

  • Provide accounting support to Business Director and production finance including AP invoices and payroll runs, customer invoices and prepayments.

  • Monitoring of cash balances, group treasury placement and SDC performance of cash and bank clearing activities to substantiate appropriate and timely clearing.

  • Provide insightful information and expectations to business director to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.

Qualifications & Experience...

  • Accounting qualification required

  • English language (written and spoken) essential

  • Prior experience managing an audit process required

  • Italian GAAP essential, US GAAP beneficial

  • Preparation of statutory financial statements and other Italian regulatory reports

  • Direct and indirect tax

  • Prior experience working with outsourcing partners preferred

  • Prior experience working in multi-national matrix organisation preferred

  • Prior work experience within a similar industry, or other relationship-based industry, preferred

  • Enterprise system skills required (Just Produce / Navision and SAP preferred)
