Apogee Services Inc. POSITION SUMMARY Apogee Enterprises, Inc (NASDAQ: APOG www.apog.com) is looking for a Billing and Sales Tax Clerk to join our Architectural Framing Systems business. The Billing and Sales Tax Clerk will prepare and issue customer invoices and credits, investigate and resolve billing issues, and manage the preparation, filing, and payment of sales tax returns across multiple jurisdictions. You will be working with colleagues in multiple physical locations, using virtual collaboration technologies such as Webex, SharePoint, and Asana. The Billing and Sales Tax Clerk will also provide some accounting support to the business and the finance team. As a successful Billing and Sales Tax Clerk you are well organized, you have basic bookkeeping and accounting knowledge, can collaborate with colleagues in the finance, sales, collections, and other departments to investigate and resolve billing, payment, and accounting discrepancies. You can work remotely and in person to obtain and understand the information you need, and you have proven you know how to prioritize your workload and independently get through it. You have good verbal and written communication skills, and you can recognize and communicate problems, collaborate with others to solve them, and find ways to improve your processes. POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Process invoices and credits to customers; ensure timely follow-up on billing issues. Obtain and validate customers' tax exemption certificates to accurately bill customers, and file taxes. Prepare and file monthly sales tax returns in a timely and accurate manner. Assist customers, and colleagues with invoice and payment inquiries, and troubleshoot problems. Other accounting and business tasks as assigned. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and sales tax regulations. 3-5 years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or a related field; experience in investigating and resolving billing discrepancies and issues. Experience preparing and filing sales tax returns in multiple jurisdictions, and managing sales tax exemptions, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or a similar industry. Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. Epicor, JDE, SAP, or similar systems). Ability to work with others across physical locations, systems, and functions. Experience with organizational transformation and change preferred. WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Apogee has a "hybrid" model for physical/remote work, where we are flexible with work location, but generally in-the-office at least two days a week. The ability to travel for collaboration, or participation in process-improvement and Company-wide events may be required, but will be infrequent.
