The ideal candidate will have experience collecting ticks and/or live-trapping rodents in domestic and international settings. They will also have wet-lab experience and will be familiar with molecular biology techniques including: DNA and/or RNA extraction, PCR, and nanopore sequencing. Opportunities for collaborative research with University of Minnesota School of Public Health faculty focused on tick cell culture, genetic transformation of intracellular bacteria, and bacterial pathogen sequencing will also be made available. Responsibilities: 60% Research: work with lab group leadership on data production, analysis, and publication of specific research projects 20% Project management and communication: ensure project milestones are completed in a timely manner, oversee lab workflow and proactively forecast/communicate needs to lab group leadership 10% Data management and monitoring: oversee the organization, storage, and backup of datasets 10% Training: serve as a subject matter expert in the training of students and staff Qualifications Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in molecular biology and/or genetics Experience with nanopore sequencing Experience with quality control and interpretation of nanopore sequencing data Experience with writing technical reports, data analysis, and authoring or co-authoring peer-reviewed manuscripts Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $56,484.00 - 61,500.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience Please visit the Benefits for Postdoctoral Candidates website for more information regarding benefit eligibility.
