The Minnesota Department of Education is looking for innovative professionals, with a strong equity lens, who will help to guide districts towards implementing restorative practices. This work will include providing educational leadership, program development, training, consultation, and resources to support district leaders, school administrators, discipline teams, and student support staff and lead teachers to increase their use of restorative practices across Minnesota. This work will be focused on enhancing the capacity of schools to rigorously assess their current discipline system and help them to make changes in policies, systems, and practices that align with the schools goals for discipline and student support as a key strategy for addressing racial disparities indiscipline.
In this position, you will serve as the Restorative Practices Consultant in the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Center. The EDI Center's mission is to advance the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion to create the conditions for building authentic cross-cultural communities where harm is eliminated, and every person's humanity is acknowledged and valued.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires four (4) years of Professional experience in K-12 education
OR
A master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience
Experience must include:
Professional experience in K-12 education
Leading Restorative Practices programming, projects, or activities
Providing training or consultation to educators on cultural competency, restorative practices, discipline, and/or diversity/equity/inclusion topics
Preferred Qualifications
Community engagement with diverse populations experience.
Experience administering education grants
Experience providing training or consultation to educators on restorative practices topics
Experience leading or implementing trauma-informed practices
Experience with anti-bias and anti-racist principles, practices, and strategies.
