The primary purpose of this position is:
To exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing labor of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance, electronic monitoring systems, fire alarms, insulation removal, insulating, and environmental controls maintenance composed of employees from a variety of trades that are responsible for accomplishing all repairs, installation of equipment, recurring work, and preventive maintenance functions for approximately 313 base wide facilities and 15 missile launch control facilities, 150 missile sites within a 90 mile radius of Minot Air Force Base.
Duties
:
- Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans on a weekly or monthly basis the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials in an organizational segment or group. Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods. and policies set by higher level supervisors. Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
- Performs work direction responsibilities. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
- Performs administration responsibilities. Participa1es with employees in the development of performance plans. Advises employees in advance of performance expectations and explains new work techniques, as required. Provides proper guidance and direction, continuous feedback on strengths and weaknesses. Appraises subordinate workers' performance in accordance with regulations. Rewards or uses corrective action, as needed, in performance management.

- Manages resources. Ensures shop operations remains within assigned budget. Forecasts budget requirements needed to support in-house work and contract projects of various sizes. Ensures IMPAC transactions are legitimate and reconciled at end of month.
Recruitment Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/ Equal Employment Treatment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and /or test equipment common to trades supervised.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications.
- Ability to plan and organize work assignments to i clude determining resources required to accomplish mission.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
