Project Engineer III –Monaca, PA (onsite)
This position is responsible for providing project management in assigned plant areas to assure proper design, procurement, and construction of capital and expense projects, usually <$5M, per regulatory and BASF standards.
As a Project Engineer III, you create chemistry by...
Develop project scopes, generate and/or obtain cost estimates, and prepare appropriation funding requests. Ensure appropriate project safety reviews are completed as required, both before and after approval. Utilize applicable Value-Based Engineering practices (VBE) to optimize project scope and costs.
Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promote a safe working environment for project execution.
Establish and maintain partnerships with assigned project manufacturing representatives to execute projects from initial scoping and funding, through detailed engineering and procurement, to startup and commissioning, and final documentation and closure.
In selected projects, request and coordinate required process and discipline engineering and design resources, whether from the site or corporate groups or outside engineering vendors, to prepare engineering design deliverables and procure equipment, fabricated materials, and services.
Adhere to current corporate and plant requirements for equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.
Maintain SAP project data entries, monitor project progress through scheduling and other tools, perform project status reporting, and control spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.
Ingredients for Success…what we look for in you…
Five or more years of engineering experience in a chemical / petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment, preferably in a Project Engineer/Engineering role
Very strong customer focus capabilities to closely interact with multiple organizational levels
Demonstrated work experience in project execution
Strong interpersonal, communication, administrative, personal motivation and personal adaptability skills
Must have generic competencies of analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, initiative, teamwork and team leadership, and quality orientation/attention to detail
Working knowledge of chemical process equipment including but not limited to rotating equipment, heat transfer, solids handling, storage tanks and vessels HVAC equipment
Requires understanding of best practices for project management work processes.
Must have general computer skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with BASF Technical standards, accounting practices, and procurement policies.
User knowledge of SAP project functions
Knowledge of the BASF Project Execution Roadmap
