FedEx Express Facilities & Material Handling Procurement Engineer II-V in Moon Township, Pennsylvania
Applies fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures to analyze operational data/methods, identify performance improvement opportunities, and/or implement technology systems that meet business objectives.
Detailed summary in the areas of: AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS: Designs and supports specific material handling sortation systems, design specifications, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) system integration for manual sort facilities. Analyzes vendor supplied equipment and supports project installation and testing.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING ENGINEERING: Designs and supports the development of sites, buildings, offices, material handling systems, and sortation equipment for manual sort facilities. Supports vendors on preventative maintenance efforts for material handling and manual and automated sortation equipment.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Plans, directs, controls, and implements engineering, construction, and start-up of FedEx Ground sortation facilities and material handling systems.
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER & PROCESS: Provides analysis, reporting tools, and engineering support for FedEx Ground field operations to effectively control and/or justify operational costs.
OPERATIONS RESEARCH, PLANNING & ANALYSIS: Analyzes data to support the tactical and strategic development of long-term network design and capacity planning for current and future FXG facilities.
OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY: Researches, designs, develops, deploys, and/or supports new and current technology solutions to improve performance and reduce operating costs with management guidance and support. Leads and participates on small cross-functional project teams responsible for implementing new technology.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROCUREMENT ENGINEERING: Provides analysis, and engineering support on key material handling system commodities that requires specific technical knowledge to procure for FedEx Ground sortation facilities and material handling systems.
OPERATIONS TECHNOLOGY SECURITY ENGINEERING: Oversee security of all OT devices on the FedEx Ground Network. Interfaces with IT, InfoSec, and Network Services on all OT Security initiatives.
Essential Functions
Analyzes performance data within engineering. Utilizes engineering tools and software to analyze data and validate results. Formulates issues in a logical manner and arrives at a comprehensive result.
Researches, analyzes, and effectively consolidates technical or engineering related information and presents for management review.
Prepares, with management guidance, accurate expenditure proposals and/or cost justification analysis. Monitors expenditures to ensure spending is applied and within budget guidelines.
Formulates and presents document research, progress, and results to team members, internal customers, and senior management.
Applies project management fundamentals and concepts with management guidance. Publishes progress reports, meeting minutes, and field communication memos.
Participates in Control Self Monitoring (CSM) and/or Business Control Self-Assessment (BCSA) process within area of responsibility.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical or quantitative degree (e.g. mathematics) required;
Minimum Experience
Two (2) years experience required in technical area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
More specific skills may be needed in the areas of:
AUTOMATION & SYSTEMS: Working knowledge of PLC based automated systems, electrical and electronic test/troubleshooting systems, and motor control methods.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING ENGINEERING: Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
FACILITIES & MATERIAL HANDLING PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Knowledge of project management concepts and project lifecycle
