Housed in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Exercise Science, which is part of a growing Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions, the Wellness curriculum is a component of Concordia College s Core Curriculum. As a Core component, all Concordia College students must complete the Wellness curriculum to graduate. With attention given to the seven dimensions of wellness, the Wellness curriculum is designed to empower every Concordia student with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary for holistic wellness and growth as whole individuals. In addition, Concordia College recently launched a new minor in public health, which is part of the developing Center for Population Health. The minor in public health will provide an introduction to the field of public health including social and systematic influences on human health. Students will learn about the social determinants of health, access to healthcare, impact of environment on health and health inequities as well as the skills and data needed to improve health. This full-time faculty position includes working closely with the Director of Wellness and teaching several sections of the Wellness curriculum each semester. In addition, this position would teach courses in the area of population health, such as epidemiology and public health. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will also engage in service to the Department, College, and community. This position will begin January 2025.
