Description West Virginia University Health Science Center is currently accepting applications for a Research Specialist with the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology About the Opportunity The Research Specialist will support ongoing research projects in studying mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiovascular disease and exchange the technical and scientific knowledge. Check out retirement health insurance benefits, retirement income, and FAQ's. * Wellness programs What you'll do: Design and execute experiments to support ongoing research projects in studying mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiovascular disease and exchange the technical and scientific knowledge. Collect and analyze data using various scientific techniques and methodologies. Maintain accurate and detailed records of research findings. Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and properly calibrated. Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Use statistical software and tools to analyze experimental data and Interpret results and prepare reports. Collaborate with team members to refine experimental approaches based on data analysis. Participate in team meetings, presenting research findings and discussing project progress. Write and contribute to scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Assist in the preparation of abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific meetings. Ensure all research activities comply with institutional and federal regulations, including ethical standards. Maintain confidentiality of research data and adhere to data protection protocols. Qualifications Masters in Science or related field: A minimum six (6) months research/laboratory experience is required. Knowledge of laboratory environment and appropriate procedures Manuscript and grant writing Knowledge and ability to use and learn lab software/applications Good organization skills and self-motivation Familiarity with and adherence to laboratory safety protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to cardiovascular research. Ability to get along with others in a group setting.
