Fann Contracting, Inc. Crusher Mechanic - Night Shift in Multiple Locations, Arizona

Fann Contracting, Inc - Northern Arizona’s leading heavy-civil and heavy-highway contractor - is searching for an experienced Night Shift Crusher Mechanic to join our team. Hourly pay for this highly skilled position may range from $32.95 to $63.88 depending upon experience, overtime and travel pay. This is a permanent, full time position in Arizona offering weekly pay and great company benefits. Typical schedule may be Sunday night through Thursday night from roughly 4PM to 3AM depending upon the repair requirements or job schedule. For safety, this position will typically include working with at least one other skilled craft worker or trainee. Overtime may be frequent.

Fann is a family-owned 64 year company specializing in mass excavation, rock handling, underground utilities, private and public infrastructure, asphalt paving, aggregate crushing, asphalt hot plant production, and much more. Our projects include public and private entities including ADOT, FHWA, BIA, city and county municipalities, private residential and commercial developments.

Crusher Plant Maintenance Mechanic Summary

The successful candidate will join our team of maintenance professionals that are responsible for the diagnosis, repair and preventative maintenance of our Mobile Crushing Plants which includes travel throughout Arizona (our home base is in Prescott).

In this SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION*, you will be responsible for time critical repairs during the evening/night shift hours so that daytime production is uninterrupted. This will include all aspects of crusher jaws, conveyors & Belts, Safety guards, electrical generators and motors. This position also includes a company mechanic’s truck, cell phone and uniform service. A clean driving record is required. Candidates with a CDL are preferred but at a minimum, a CDL Medical Card will be necessary because of the size vehicle you will drive. If you do not currently have a CDL Medical Card, you will need to be able to acquire one with the first month of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must safely work under MSHA regulations and company drug testing policies.

  • Must be a leader in Safety and have a “CAN DO” attitude.

  • Tools are typically provided but you will need to have some of your own.

  • Knowledge and practice with plant lock out- tag out, confined spaces & risk assessment protocols.

  • Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather and conditions.

  • Work often includes exposure to petroleum based or other MSDS chemicals.

  • Mechanic creates parts lists and prioritize repairs according to demand and operations/production schedules.

  • Documents system problems and preventative maintenance schedule in MSHA site log.

  • Make recommendations for improving the reliability and performance of crushing plant/equipment.

  • Keeps the Materials Superintendent, Plant Operators (and others) apprised of work completed and issues that have been found or still need attention.

  • Gathers, records and shares plant information for preventive maintenance.

  • Escalate problem solving by communicating with Materials/Crusher Superintendents.

  • Calmly handles problems in a professional manner during high-pressure situations.

  • Responsible for assisting with regular mobilization/relocation of Crusher Plant(s).

  • Ability to occasionally work weekends and/or holidays to accommodate production/project needs.

  • Overnight travel within the state of Arizona is required (Subsistence typically included).

  • You must have the ability to work at heights with ladders, safety harnesses, in confined spaces, in around or under equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of technical/mechanical repair experience with mobile crushers, asphalt hot plants and screens.

  • Must be able to fabricate, weld, use cutting torch and other metal working tools.

  • Repair knowledge of heavy support equipment such as loaders, trucks etc. helpful.

  • Computer literate with previous MSHA/OSHA training necessary.

  • Logical trouble shooting skills and capabilities to isolate and attack problems.

  • Solid knowledge of DC power distribution including high voltage diesel generators.

  • Ability to work with electric schematics, diagrams and mechanical drawings.

  • Employees must hold a Valid Driver’s License w/clean record.

  • Versatility and being a highly skilled production loader, Dozer, Excavator, Hammer Hoe operator would definitely lead to a higher degree of success.

  • Should be willing to constructively train others and lead subordinates.

Rewards:

Competitive hourly wage is based upon experience (DOE). WE PAY WEEKLY WITH DIRECT DEPOSIT. We’ll send your check right to your bank -or- provide you with a Visa Pay Card for convenience. Tax-free Subsistence (travel pay) of $70 to $80 per day may also be available for most assignments when you travel for work.
