POSITION: SPEECH LANGUAGE AIDE CENTRAL COVE PRESCHOOL (Part-Time, Voucher Position, No Benefits)   ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER   Job Summary: What is the job of a Preschool Speech Language Aide at Central Cove?   Under the direction and supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist, Preschool Speech Aide help plan and implement specially designed instruction for work with students in both the general and special education population who have delays and disorders in language, articulation, fluency, and or voice. They play a significant role in helping young children access learning, play, and communication with their peers, helping them gain confidence in themselves and their environment.   Job Responsibilities: What does a Preschool Speech Aide at Central Cove do? Under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist and in collaboration with other team members, a Preschool Speech aid will

  • Implement purposeful lesson plans, activities, interventions, and scaffolds to support identified students in the regular curriculum
  • Document student progress
  • Collect and log data for reimbursement requirements
  • Share information with students, parents/guardians, and multi-disciplinary team members
  • Provide data to help develop goals for student's IEP or therapy plan
  • Participate in IEP meetings
  • Assist with clerical duties
  • Assist in administration of speech, language, and hearing screenings
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Support student interaction in development of social skills and relationship building
  • Collaborate with other educators regarding daily routines and student support and participation.

Requirements: What experience and qualifications will make me eligible to be a Preschool Aide at Central Cove?

  • Certification in child CPR preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to lift at least 45 pounds
  • Ability to engage with small children both on and off the floor
  • Successful experience working with children at risk
