Naval Facilities Engineering Command AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida

Responsibilities You will perform maintenance, calibration, modification, installation, repair and replacement of analog and direct digital controls systems and equipment. You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating and ventilation. You will repair HVAC systems and components in structures, such as warehouses, hangars, hospitals, large office buildings and complexes. You will test for refrigerant leaks and use a refrigerant recovery/recycling station, to Environmental Protection Agency standards, to safely reclaim, recycle and store the refrigerant before repairs can be made. You will disassemble and repair a variety of components including compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling coils, air handlers, bearings, water control valves, air dampers, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including: (1) Installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, a variety of systems components such as compressors, which include gear, reciprocating, centrifugal, or rotary pump and a variety of refrigerant controls such as those with low and high pressure side floats, automatic thermostatic expansion valves, capillary or choke types, and those base on volume or quantity changes; 2) Examining, diagnosing malfunctions and making repairs to systems that include analog and direct digital control (DDC) systems used in complex heating ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems; and 3) Following all guidelines and procedures pertaining to the use and handling of refrigerants in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations.
