Nevada County Clerk of the Board/Board of Supervisors Office is seeking an Administrative Services Assistant to support the Department as new integral team member! This position assists in planning, organizing, and supervising the administrative services functions of the department by supporting the Department Head and divisions of the Clerk of the Board and the Board of Supervisors in all administrative functions and initiatives. This position will provide general administrative support and serve as the Office Manager to the department.

Desired skills include:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including formal business writing and outstanding customer service.

  • Very strong organization, time management, and project tracking skills, including an acute attention to detail.

  • High level of experience in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word and Excel.

  • Adept at coordinating and scheduling meetings for support of the Clerk of the Board office.

  • Experience working with complex documents in Adobe Acrobat and editing of PDFs.

  • Proficiency and enthusiasm for solving problems and doing research.

  • Ability to both take direction and take initiative and ownership in assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Experience with finance, payroll, and budgeting is desired (but can be trained).

This Administrative Services Assistant will be an integral part of the Clerk of the Board team whose mission is to provide the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and citizens with professional and courteous service; easy access to public records; guidance through the process to facilitate open participation in the decision and policymaking of County government; and to advocate for the immediate, intermediate and long-term interests of the County, its residents and general public.

The Board of Supervisors (BOS) is the governing, legislative and policy body of county government and serves as the governing body of the Nevada County Sanitation District No. 1 and the Nevada County Housing Authority. The Board of Supervisors provides direct constituent coordination, community building, and works on emerging issues of importance to the community and region.

The position is crafted for individuals who have a bachelor's degree with major course work in business or public administration, economics, accounting, human resources, or a related field plus one year of responsible administrative experience. Education and Experience Required

Education:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in business or public administration, economics, accounting, human resources, or a related field

Experience:

One year of responsible administrative experience.

-Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.

Retirement

The County is a member of the CalPERS retirement system and also provides the opportunity for voluntary contributions to a 457 deferred compensation account through Nationwide by way of pre-tax and Roth payroll deductions.
