APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $42,636.96 to $61,721.28 PAY GRADE: 25

The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position

Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

PER EXECUTIVE ORDER 2024-007, ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL JUNE 30TH, 2025. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This recruitment is for an Accounting Assistant 2. The eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies in various locations and agencies across the State of Nevada. Accounting Assistant 2s perform a variety of clerical accounting work; maintain records and track balances for diverse general ledger groups and/or categories; prepare a wide variety of accounts payable and receivable documents; and assign accounting codes in compliance with complex rules, regulations and procedures which may include contractual and grant limitations. * THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents and balancing accounts; and using computer spreadsheets to record, track organize and report data; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
