APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY - $67,296.24 to $100,098.72 PAY GRADE: 36

The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position

Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is located in Carson City. The Budget Analyst 2 position is responsible for a variety of duties in the fiscal management branch of the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. These duties include oversight of several complex budget accounts, including budget preparation and management, budget account maintenance reconciliation, accounting, auditing, fiscal forecasting, grant management, draws, and reporting, the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, detailed biennial spending plans, the review and analysis of budget requests and adjustments, ensuring compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations, and development and review of work programs for submission to the Administrative Services Officer 2 for Division approval. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.

Additional Position Criteria

This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
