Responsibilities

  • Manage plant quality engineering, gage control, calibration, and inspection operations, which includes audits, driving corrective and preventive actions, support of Lean / Six Sigma activities, design, purchasing and service, while continuously improving product quality to meet customer expectations.

  • Manage and direct quality assurance activities and procedures for raw materials, processes, and finished products. Work closely with subordinates and verification activities in handling day-to-day projects, problems, and issues.

  • Confer with engineering, manufacturing engineering, production control, purchasing and service personnel to resolve quality issues relative to product design, specifications, tooling, and production operations. Ensure correct implementation of corrective and preventive actions throughout.

  • Deal directly with customers on specific quality complaints and problems.

  • Collaborate with other departmental leaders and/or managers to select and develop key personnel in forming specialized work groups to monitor, evaluate, and improve processes along with providing performance feedback to appropriate areas.

  • Lead and support the implementation of Quality Engineering methods, Six Sigma and Lean to ensure processes are capable.

  • Oversee the control of inspection and testing equipment. Ensure equipment and outside services are obtained to support inspection and testing activities.

  • Develop and maintain procedures, instructions, methods, and workmanship guides for gage control and ensure calibration activities are created and implemented.

  • Manage Quality Leaders, department projects, and department workloads. Delegate responsibility for inspection issues and projects to shift supervisors and provide necessary safety information to shift supervisors to carry out tool box safety topics.

  • Work with Human Resources on employee relations.

  • Responsible for coaching, motivating, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • 8-15 years related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Engineering, Mathematics, Metrology, or Business)

  • Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED

  • Occasional travel (0-5%)

  • Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)

  • Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business < 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday

  • Job may require employee to drive a company vehicle; job is non-DOT regulated and an MVR is required. Ex. Field Service Technician, Guest Services, Sales Rep

  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (or able to obtain within 12 months), ASQ Certification, Certified Manager of Quality (CQM), and a master’s degree in business administration.
