Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Housekeeper - Facilities (Visiting Faculty Operation) for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Performs a wide variety of routine as well as specialized housekeeping tasks required to maintain the buildings, living spaces, walkways and trash/recycling areas, including other areas utilized by the Visiting Faculty Residents and Guests.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Daily tasks are the laundering of linen and providing complete set-up services such as bed making and the cleaning and maintaining all of the provided amenities.
  • Under the guidance, leadership and supervision of the Operation's Supervisor and following established protocols and procedures, prepares and maintains the Facilities daily by cleaning, disinfecting, dusting, vacuuming, stripping, buffing, waxing and shampooing of all surfaces at assigned locations.
  • Inspects buildings for custodial and maintenance deficiencies, detects and reports findings to supervisor.
  • Performs general grounds maintenance by removing windblown debris from surrounding areas, walkways and trash/recycling areas.
  • Is part of the Essential Personnel Team and responsible for assisting with the snow and ice removal from walkways and building entry areas.
  • Will deliver supplies, materials and furniture as needed or assigned.
  • Will travel as a Team to clean and prepares Visiting Faculty Apartments on the Newark, Camden and New Brunswick Campuses, including the Highland Park Montgomery Apartments located in Highland Park NJ.

Minimum Education and Experience
Certifications/Licenses
  • Valid driver's license
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of housekeeping and meal preparation skills.
  • Communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge, expertise and experience in the Housekeeping field, which includes the complete cleaning and the prepping for occupancy of all Visiting Faculty Apartments and common area spaces.
  • Excellent oral and writing skills and the ability to effectively and professionally communicate with the Residents and Guests.
