The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.
Posting Summary
Rutgers is seeking a Research Associate II for the Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ Under the direction of faculty members, the Research Associate II is responsible for the conduct of highly specialized and technical research in area of tobacco. Responsible for assisting in the management of tobacco research studies, including design, analysis, and reporting.Duties include:
  • Performs various research activities related to tobacco; may conduct independently or as assigned specialized research for a particular project.
  • Participates in the development and selection of research methodology and instrumentation and coordination of qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the Center.
  • Under supervision, assists in the conducting of tobacco focused research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions, participates in the evaluation of the existing procedures, suggesting revision where necessary and proposing new procedures where required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant science, or a Master's Degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.
  • Experience with qualitative research methods such as content analysis required.
  • Experience with SAS and SPSS statistical software and Qualtrics or Survey Monkey software required.
