Job Title: Automation Technician
Job Description
The Automation Technician designs and maintains process control and automation programs for our processing facility. This position provides support and troubleshooting to enable a 24/7 operation of the plant process control network and associated hardware, as well as control issues related to both the plant facility and production equipment. The right candidate will have strong knowledge and experience with industrial equipment and act as a knowledgeable mentor to the Maintenance department.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot production and facility process control equipment.
Repair and replace electro-mechanical and steam control equipment.
Provide new functioning control and automation solutions based on functional descriptions.
Modify Modicon PLCs and HMI panel logic to meet changing needs.
Work with vendors to obtain information and pricing on equipment.
Document new work so others can correctly install or troubleshoot; update existing plant documentation.
Maintain and improve skills and knowledge to keep current with process automation equipment and software.
Perform essential functions of Maintenance Technician position to stay current with the daily production schedule, objectives, and urgent needs.
Participate in daily meetings, communicate, and execute follow-up action items.
Provide technical coaching and training.
Process and dispatch work requests and direct workload (PM / WO).
Participate in Continuous Improvement Process.
Follow all Quality policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Follow all Safety policies and procedures and participate in monthly observations.
Maintain regular, predictable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
Preventive maintenance.
Ladder logic programming.
PLC troubleshooting.
Experience with 3-phase motors.
Knowledge of industrial electrical, pneumatics, mechanical systems, repair, troubleshooting, schematics, hydraulics, and blueprint reading.
Ability to troubleshoot industrial electrical and mechanical equipment failures.
Knowledge of and ability to maintain and modify PLC systems, process controls, and HMI panels.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associates Degree in relevant field preferred.
3+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment (dairy industry or related food industry a plus).
Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Intermediate shop mathematics and handbook formula skills.
Ability to read complex blueprints or drawings and use a wide variety of tools or precision measuring instruments.
Strong understanding of preventative or predictive maintenance.
Advanced mechanical aptitude.
Experience with computer operations, software installation, and setup.
Lock out-tag out and industrial safety knowledge.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Holland, Pennsylvania.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
