Advanced Fitter $45/hr & $120 per day in per diem

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Fitter with four + years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class Fitter or Fabricator. The ideal candidate will have expertise in single pass tack welding, burning, heating, and the ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform single pass tack welding.

• Utilize oxygen/propane burning and heating torches.

• Comprehend and interpret complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches, including weld symbols, material types, and reference lines.

• Measure and comprehend fractional dimensions using a ruler.

• Use vibratory tools, including grinders and needle guns.

• Lay off piece parts for fabrication and assembly.

• Assemble structural piece parts in accordance with quality specifications.

• Work in physically demanding environments such as shipbuilding and steel fabrication.

• Familiarize with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with MIL-M (A-5A) Filler Metal of MIL-E-/1

• Ability to weld in both Vertical Up (3F) and Overhead (4F) positions

• Completion of tests administered by the Welding School, including multiple pass tack welding and visual inspection of welds

This is a Contract position based out of Newport News, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
