COUNTY OF ST CROIX Behavioral Health Technician in NEW RICHMOND, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: POSITION SUMMARY: This is a paraprofessional position providing programmatic screening, assessment crisis services to support the needs of the department. This position performs a variety of duties to promote recovery including Chapter 34 mobile assessments, telephone screening, appointment scheduling, WATTS reviews, assisting social workers in providing services to assist clients and their natural/formal supports, working with clients regarding employment skills, case management, transporting clients, developing community-based resources and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Department Supervisor or Administrator. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides onsite, in-person assessment, information, support, counseling, intervention, emergency service coordination, and referral for additional, alternative, or ongoing services in accordance with DHS 34.22 (3) (b), Mobile Crisis Services. Provides initial screening and scheduling for consumers looking for Behavioral Health services as a part of an Access team. Assists clients and their supports with skill development and daily living functions such as parenting, budgeting, household organization, health and safety issues in the home or workplace. Reviews and oversees safety issues for clients. Assist clients and their natural supports with identifying and accessing community resources. Promotes client self-sufficiency via education/vocational activities: assessment, skill development, training, and employment seeking/development/coaching/retention. Conduct assessment and provide documentation necessary to open clients to targeted Case Management. Accurately document in writing or electronically, all client related information in a timely manner. Document and submit client related billing information as necessary. Maintain current knowledge of area resources and providers and seek donations from community organizations. Conduct WATTS reviews and accurately complete necessary documentation. Assist Supervisor and Social Workers with clerical office support including intakes, filing, and waitlists. Supports clients/family during crisis or difficult times, may transport client to and from visits or appointments. Report status and any changes in behavior or signs of abuse/neglect to appropriate staff. Cross trains, where appropriate in other areas of the Health and Human Services department and/or other County departments. Completes work within the time frame allotted; adjusts to anticipated and/or unexpected changes in work demands while continuing to produce a high-quality product/service. Ensures communication with appropriate supervisory personnel of expected and/or unexpected changes in work demands. Works either independently or with the assigned teams to plan for the projects assigned. Ensures that work is prioritized so that it is effectively carried out in the time frame allotted and ensuring effective use of all resources. Performs other duties as assigned. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Associate degree in Human Services related discipline. Two years\' experience working with persons with disabilities or families. Experience working with chronic mental illness preferred.
