Google Audio Systems Engineer, Telephony in New Taipei City, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Acoustics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of industry experience working in acoustic and electrical measurement capability using Soundcheck, Audio Precision, etc.

  • Experience with voice quality measurement using HEAD Acoustics ACQUA and HATS.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 7 years of experience in acoustic and electrical measurement capability using Soundcheck, Audio Precision, etc.

  • Experience with end-to-end Voice processing pipeline development/evaluation/implementation on voice communication products.

  • Experience with voice quality measurement using HEAD Acoustics ACQUA and HATS and familiar with ITU-T, 3GPP and ETSI specifications for voice communications.

  • Experience with ML based voice algorithms.

  • Knowledge in Voice Algo-Acoustic echo cancellation, Beamforming and Noise suppression.

In this role, you will perform voice and speech algorithm studies and characterization in Pixel products. You will conduct studies into the relationship between physical acoustics and algorithms. You integrate and develop the audio signal chain to obtain exceptional telephony call experience. You will work with internal and third-party algorithm teams to formulate signal chain validation methodology.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to help deliver exceptional telephony call experience with excellent voice quality and take on relevant certifications tasks regarding acoustic/voice quality for regulations and global carriers on Pixel products while analyzing results, present findings and tradeoff options.

  • Work with audio engineering and algorithm teams to perform advance debugging of signal chains.

  • Define, evaluate, benchmark, and tune voice communication/telephony algorithms (e.g., Noise suppressor, beamforming, Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC)), for all calling scenarios (CS/PS, VOIP, VT) by objective and subjective methods.

  • Develop/Implement end-to-end voice processing pipeline or Voice Algo into Audio subsystem with considering system requirements on power, thermal, memory and latency.

  • Provide guidance to internal and external algorithm and solution providers to guide roadmaps, and contribute to our roadmap by investigating new technologies and delivering new features.
