New York University Assistant Research Scientist/Scholar Part Time Non-exempt (Desplan Lab) in New York, New York

The Desplan Lab at NYU’s Department of Biology is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to work as an Assistant Research Scientist/Scholar Part Time Non-exempt at 14 hours/week.

Projects in the Desplan Lab include researching the jumping ant and investigation of neuronal evolution, olfactory coding, and aging.

Responsibilities include conducting analysis of social activity during caste transition in Harpegnathos Saltator using ArUco tags and artificial intelligence. These analyses include but are not limited to determining the behavior patterns during caste transition, assessing correlations between the movement of body parts and antennae, and using machine learning to classify the hierarchy in the colonies.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $13,104.00 . New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

The ideal candidate will be a BS, PhD or MD/PhD student in Biology or a related field, with prior research experience with biology/medicine and statistics.
