Messages left for other purposes, such as following up on an application or technical issues not related to a disability, will not receive a response.Job DescriptionThe General Manager, Thirteen and Production Operations will oversee the daily operations of THIRTEEN including strategy and budgets. In addition, the General Manager is responsible for leading the Production Management, Production Services, and Design and On-Air Promotions teams. The General Manager will build on the brand and image that reflects the current and future potential of Thirteen's market. The General Manager may also serve as Executive Producer on assigned projects. Key responsibilities include: Oversee day-to-day operations of THIRTEEN, ensuring high quality programming, efficient production processes and adherence to regulatory standards; Implement best practices for operational efficiency and cost control; Oversee the Production Management team and ensure support is provided to clients for creation of linear and digital content. This includes all in-house local productions and outside client productions, live news, performance shows, and pre-taped projects. Oversee Production Services ensuring efficient scheduling of all production facilities including WNET's in-house Starr Studio, the corresponding control room, both post audio rooms and all necessary personnel to operate these facilities;Collaborate with teams needed to facilitate production requests: Production Management, Ingest, Post Production, Engineering Operations, Broadcast Technology, and freelance staff;Oversee Design and On-Air Promos. Lead the Design and On-Air Promos team in creating compelling promos, reels, and other content; Ensure designers offer creative direction for WNET's on-air, digital, and print projects including motion graphics for titles, credits and lower thirds, logo design, and layouts for print and digital materials. Additionally, guide the Design and On-Air Promotions department in creating voice-overs for Thirteen's interstitial and fundraising content and coordinate out-of-house professional printing, including business cards; Develop and maintain ongoing methods and strategies to ensure quality control and excellence in support of producers of broadcast and digital content; Serve as Executive Producer and supervise content initiatives and projects. As Executive Producer:Oversee the complete range of activities involved in developing and executing strategies, budgets, and schedules in the creation of broadcast and digital productions; Lead editorial content, branding, and production working closely with VP of Distribution and production teams ensuring the program is seen on multiple platforms;Work closely with the editorial teams at all stages of the production process from story development through post-production;Manage budget and production timelines.In partnership with Senior Management, build business case for capital (or expense) investments needed to refine and advance operations;Participate in collective bargaining negotiations;Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, mentoring staff and promoting professional development. Qualifications:Minimum of 10 years of experience in a content production role with at least 8 years in a broadcast environment; Extensive management experience in a broadcast or media environment demonstrating a strong record of leading teams and driving organizational success; Ability to manage organizational change including the ability to implement new processes and initiatives that enhance operational efficiency; Strong understanding of the media industry including digital media trends; Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $210,000 - $253,000.
