UNIVERSAL Technologies is seeking a Network Infrastructure Engineer for an onsite position based in New York, NY. Candidates must be available to work across multiple locations within the five boroughs. An active LinkedIn profile is preferred.

Position: The Network Infrastructure Engineer will lead the deployment and upgrade of network infrastructure across various sites. The role involves implementing Cisco/Meraki solutions, addressing day-to-day network issues, and collaborating with the Network Infrastructure and Telecommunications team. This hands-on position requires fieldwork, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise in network engineering and telecommunication systems.

    SCOPE OF SERVICES:

    As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the Network Infrastructure and Telecommunications team to upgrade networks and implement wireless solutions (Meraki & Cisco).

  • Deploy and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst, Nexus switches, and Cisco VoIP devices.

  • Implement protocols including EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, VLANs, VPC, STP, ACLs, QoS, and SIP.

  • Manage firewalls and security products, including Cisco Firepower, IPSec, ISE, RADIUS, and PKI.

  • Conduct site visits to assess landline data for VoIP deployment and network upgrades.

  • Design and implement LAN solutions integrating legacy equipment with modern network systems.

  • Perform installation, racking, cabling, and power-up of network equipment at various sites.

  • Document inventory and upload asset information into asset management systems.

  • Develop network design recommendations following Cisco best practices.

  • Plan and manage network maintenance and deployment schedules.

  • Utilize tools such as Wireshark, TCPDUMP, NetFlow, and syslog for troubleshooting and network monitoring.

  • Conduct post-deployment troubleshooting and provide escalation support as needed.

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, MOPs, and network diagrams.

  • Perform network security assessments to ensure optimal performance and compliance with best practices.

    MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    Candidates who do not meet the mandatory skills will not be considered.

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in network engineering or a similar technical role.

  • Strong expertise in complex routing and switching environments (Cisco Meraki, Firewalls, DNA, ISE).

  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting Cisco wireless solutions, VoIP systems, and firewall technologies.

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage site deployments with minimal supervision.

  • Hands-on experience with network hardware installation, cabling, and patching.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to provide technical support and customer service.

    DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Cisco WLAN and ISE.

  • Familiarity with Meraki Wi-Fi deployments, VPN certificates, and wireless routers.

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes, including Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management.

  • Active Cisco CCNA certification preferred.
