Responsibilities

The Faith Laboratory is seeking postdocs to lead projects aimed at understanding the interactions between gut microbes and fistulizing Crohn’s disease. The position will involve the analysis of gut microbiome samples collected from Crohn’s disease patients, studying their interactions with host epithelial cells, and exploring their impact on the immune system to investigate pathogenic tunnel formation. The results from these experiments will then be used to design novel therapeutic strategies for fistulizing Crohn’s disease patients. This work is part of a multidisciplinary effort with our clinical collaborator, Dr. Serre-Yu Wong, who is a physician scientist specializing in fistulizing Crohn’s disease.

Technical Duties: (include any protocols)

• Perform independent research in the area of anaerobic bacteriology, immunology, preclinical models (including gnotobiotic mice), and organoids.

• Critically analyze data quality and results, communicate results to scientists and lay people

• Write or assist in writing scientific papers, grants, and regulatory documents

• Collaborate closely with other scientists to conduct research

Compensation Statement

Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $72500 - $80000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
