Macmillan Project Manager - Reporting & Analytics (Contractor) in New York, New York

Description

Macmillan is seeking a Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) team. The Project Manager will lead multiple Reporting & Analytics projects within a large-scale Dynamics 365 and Snowflake implementation. The ideal candidate will also have experience managing projects that focus on data integration, analytics, and reporting solutions, particularly using Snowflake, Cognos, and Power BI (or similar tools). This is a 12-month contract opportunity.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Workstream Leadership & Project Execution:

  • Lead the Reporting & Analytics workstream projects as part of the broader Dynamics 365 implementation and Snowflake maintenance projects and ensure alignment with business goals.

  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies for reporting and analytics initiatives.

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including ERP functional leads, data engineers, business analysts, and reporting teams.

  • Data Integration & Reporting Strategy:

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of reporting solutions integrated with Dynamics 365, Snowflake, Cognos, and Power BI.

  • Ensure proper data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes are established for accurate and efficient reporting.

  • Coordinate the optimization of data models, schemas, and data pipelines to support scalable and high-performance reporting.

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management:

  • Collaborate with business leaders, finance, and operations teams to gather reporting requirements and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Provide strategic recommendations for improving reporting efficiency, data governance, and business intelligence adoption.

  • Ensure user training, adoption, and ongoing support for reporting tools and dashboards.

  • Project KPI Reporting & Portfolio Dashboard Updates:

  • Define, track, and report key project KPIs (e.g., budget, timeline, risk, resource utilization, issue resolution, and delivery milestones) to the Head of PMO and executive leadership.

  • Ensure that project health metrics, risks, and dependencies are accurately reflected in the PMO Portfolio Dashboard.

  • Work with the PMO team to standardize reporting templates, dashboards, and data visualization methods using Power BI, Excel, or other reporting tools.

  • Provide insights into project performance, blockers, and forecasted risks while

  • recommending corrective actions when necessary.

  • Quality Management:

  • Monitor data quality and address reporting inconsistencies or performance issues proactively.

  • Oversee the identification, tracking, and resolution of defects related to data integration, reporting inconsistencies, and system performance.

  • Work closely with QA teams, developers, and business users to ensure all reporting issues are documented, prioritized, and resolved effectively.

Required Skills / Knowledge:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Project Manager, leading enterprise reporting, analytics, or BI-related projects.

  • Proven experience managing reporting & analytics workstreams, projects, and implementations.

  • Strong expertise in Snowflake, Cognos, and Power BI (or similar BI & reporting tools).

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes, and data visualization best practices.

  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall methodologies in large enterprise projects.

  • Experience with Project Management tools such as Smartsheets, Jira, Asana, or Azure DevOps

  • Communication & Stakeholder Management – Ability to translate technical reporting concepts into business-friendly language and communicate effectively with executives, IT teams, and end-users.

  • Collaboration & Team Leadership – Skilled at leading cross-functional teams, working with business units, technical staff, and third-party vendors to align reporting solutions with business needs.

  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving – Capable of navigating complex data environments, handling unexpected challenges, and adjusting project plans to align with business changes.

  • Strategic Thinking & Business Acumen – Understands how reporting and analytics drive business decisions, and can prioritize reporting initiatives based on organizational goals.

  • Attention to Detail & Analytical Mindset – Ensures data accuracy, reporting integrity, and adherence to best practices for data governance and compliance.

  • Influencing & Change Management – Helps users embrace new reporting tools and analytics capabilities, ensuring a smooth transition and increased adoption of self-service reporting.

  • Time Management & Prioritization – Balances multiple reporting projects, workstream dependencies, and tight deadlines while maintaining quality execution.

  • Continuous Learning & Innovation – Stays updated on the latest trends in BI, data visualization, and ERP analytics to drive reporting efficiencies and enhancements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: PMP, Agile (Scrum Master), Power BI, or Snowflake certifications.

  • Technical Knowledge: SQL, data modeling, or experience with Azure Data Services

  • ERP & Finance Expertise: Understanding of ERP reporting, finance analytics, and operational dashboards.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent work experience.

This position will have an hourly rate up to $65/ hour. The successful candidate will be employed through Headway Workforce Solutions.
