Robert Half Property Accountant in New York, New York

Description We are seeking a Property Accountant for our team based in New York, New York. In this role, you will be managing a portfolio of properties and will be responsible for financial statement preparation, closing activities, year-end audit workpapers, and property taxes. This role is dedicated to ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our property management operations.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of entities and oversee their financial activities

• Prepare financial statements for assigned properties

• Conduct closing activities and ensure all financial obligations are met

• Prepare year-end audit workpapers and collaborate with auditors

• Handle property tax matters, including filing and payment

• Collaborate with the controller and other team members on various accounting tasks

• Utilize commercial real estate knowledge to enhance property accounting processes

• Leverage financial software for efficient and accurate data processing

• Provide support in the creation of workpapers and other financial reports

• Contribute to the team's stability by minimizing turnover and maintaining consistent performance. Requirements • Must hold a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Proven experience in Property Accounting or similar role

• Familiarity with commercial real estate is essential

• Proficiency in financial statement preparation

• Experience with audit workpapers and supporting workpapers

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures

• Hands-on experience with accounting software

• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables

• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
