City of New York Senior Counsel in New York, New York

Job Description

The Office of Labor Relations (OLR) represents the Mayor in the conduct of all labor relations between the City of New York and labor unions representing NYC employees. In addition, OLR administers procedures resulting from the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, including the step grievance process.

Under supervision, the Senior Counsel represents the City of New York and its constituent agencies in various labor matters, including but not limited to, improper practices, impasse proceedings, accretions and representation matters before the Office of Collective Bargaining. In addition, the Senior Counsel handles grievance arbitrations arising out of contract disputes. Further, this attorney provides advice and counsel to management and City labor partners on a variety of labor relations issues. They are responsible for the preparation of legal documents, such as memoranda, verified answers and complaints, briefs, arguments, etc. in connection with all related proceedings. Qualifications

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.

Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
