Discover how we’re redefining what’s possible by  making real products out of cutting edge research in silicon photonics.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven Photonics Test Engineer to take ownership of test development and operations for our cutting-edge silicon photonics FMCW LiDAR technology. This is a hands-on role where you will develop and execute advanced test methodologies, ensure rigorous validation of our photonics devices, and work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team. You will set a high standard for test execution, troubleshooting, and process improvements, leading by example through direct contributions and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute design verification tests, analyze results, and provide feedback to improve device performance.

  • Define and implement both die-level and wafer-level test solutions in collaboration with design, product, and packaging teams.

  • Develop production test solutions for silicon photonics components to ensure manufacturability and scalability.

  • Optimize and standardize test and analysis methodologies to improve repeatability and accuracy.

  • Bring-up, manage, and operate automated wafer-level test (WLT) probers for silicon photonics devices.

  • Perform routine setup calibrations and ensure quality control in test processes.

  • Identify and mitigate test challenges, ensuring execution of large-scale technical projects in a timely and efficient manner.

    Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optics, Physics, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on lab experience testing silicon photonics devices or related photonics/optics components.

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of optical integrated circuit (PIC) design, testing, and its impact on product yield and performance.

  • Hands-on experience with optical test and measurement equipment (e.g., optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, interferometers, high-speed photodetectors) and optomechanical alignment tools.

  • Proficiency in Python for test automation, data analysis, and instrument control.

  • Knowledge of automated wafer-level testing (WLT) and test methodologies for silicon photonics. Practical experience in WLT is highly preferred.

  • Experience with fiber alignment automation or active alignment techniques.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex system issues and propose corrective actions.

  • Communication & Collaboration:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex test results, analysis, and technical insights.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, and packaging teams.

  • Work Ethic & Adaptability:

  • Highly self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks with attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving technical challenges.
