The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a full-time Technician B to join the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC). The incumbent will report to the Principal Investigator.
Responsibilities
- Assists Principal Investigators (PI) and Research Scientists in BSL-2 laboratories.
- Provides technical support in SARS-CoV-2, HIV, or other virus experiments according to scientific protocols as determined by investigators.
- Performs biochemistry, molecular biology, and structural biology assays.
- Produces recombinant proteins.
- Maintains the integrity of the laboratory database.
- Oversees the integrity of the equipment.
- Collaborates with the overall function of the laboratory and its workflow.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigators and/or Research Scientists.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in protein production, biochemistry, structural biology, or tissue culture strongly preferred.
- Meticulous, attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
- Well organized and good time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Other Requirements
- Must be able to work in an orderly manner and in accordance with all safety regulations.
- The candidate selected for this position is required to undergo a drug screening test prior to a final offer of employment being made.
- Participation in the medical surveillance program.
