THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Senior Manager, Indirect Tax, you will be responsible for leading Chipotle’s U.S. and International indirect tax team. The role requires the management of all aspects of indirect tax (sales & use and value added tax) compliance, planning and strategy. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of U.S. sales/use tax laws and regulations, strong team management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role reports to our Senior Director, Tax.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Oversee U.S. multi-state sales and use tax compliance process to ensure tax is accurately collected or accrued and tax return filing/payment deadlines are met

  • Oversee International indirect compliance and review monthly/quarterly returns for Canada, UK, France, and Germany.

  • Research, propose and implement changes that promote process efficiencies, support company initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute sales and use tax projects.

  • Review sales and use tax account reconciliations including sales tax reserves.

  • Support the Senior Director, Tax on various projects and strategic tax planning analysis, including gathering and manipulating data to achieve value-added results.

  • Partner with all 3rd party delivery partners and update rules in the tax engines to ensure tax is accurately collected.

  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on indirect tax matters.

  • Assist with SOX compliance and internal audit requests.

  • Manage sales & use tax-related inquiries and audits from taxing jurisdictions. Present findings to tax leadership.

  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on the company.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university required.

  • Master’s degree in Tax preferred.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience required.

  • 5-8 years of supervisory experience preferred.

  • CPA preferred.

  • Restaurant industry experience preferred.

  • Proficient with MS Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook, Oracle, Alteryx.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent research and project management skills.

  • Ability to effectively manage priorities, projects, and people in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to be self-motivated and directed.

PAY TRANSPARENCY

A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $145,000.00–$214,000.00. You are also eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level, experience, and/or education.
