The Role:
Oversees the construction activities that take place on the worksite for water treatment projects. Involved in planning, organizing and controlling projects.
This position is based in Fort Saskatchewan, AB
Responsibilities:
Oversees construction sites, general contractors, and workers to ensure a high level of quality and safety.
Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures
Ensures that project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices.
Provides technical support to Project Managers
Performs change order estimating and assists the Project Manager in change order negotiations
Coordinates and monitors schedule updates, invoices, and submittals
Assists in managing and reviewing the progress of contractor's construction schedules.
Review weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes
Reports the status of projects to business and market leaders
Attend client meetings as needed
Lead interface with local onsite Customer if/when Project Manager is not present.
Be part of the operational team at a later stage.
Qualifications:
BE in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Environmental, or Electrical, or other related Engineering discipline with 5 years of experience or 10 years of work experience in lieu of degree.
10+ years of project experience working in the construction industry required; Experience with large manufacturing facilities and construction sites preferred.
Proficient with MS Office suite of tools
Knowledge of construction technology
EPC industry experience
Experience in water treatment projects is a plus
Familiarity with project and department budget processes and tools
Risk assessment/management
Leadership ability
Must be able to multitask.
Effective communication, and presentation skills
Ability to read, understand, and direct work based on engineering drawings, schematics and construction documents
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
