J.D. McCarty Center serves patients 0-21years of age in a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient and school settings.  The J.D. McCarty Center is looking for someone who is passionate about working with children, ready to learn and enjoys collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.  The J.D. McCarty Center is a fun, energetic place that is always seeking new and improved treatment strategies and learning opportunities. 

Starting salary: $70,000 per year

Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the development, implementation, and/or assistance of in-patient and outpatient clinics including: neurology, orthopedic, vision, and in-patient clinics with attending physicians. 

• Works an adapted, flexible schedule to meet the needs of the hospital and patient scheduling requests.   Duties would include scheduling, staffing, follow up, preparation of clinic area, collaboration with overseeing physicians, and monitoring the operation of all related equipment. 

• Attends all scheduled clinic appointments and will provide professional nursing care and services to developmentally disabled patients demonstrating reliability and competency in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and State Health Department standards. 

• Obtains medical record, medical history from family/guardian.  Completes height and weight information and ensures vitals are documented.  Documents clinic visit.

• Responsible for scheduling all inpatient medical appointments.  Ensures all prior authorizations have been obtained and works with hospital business office to obtain prior authorization. 

• Works with the Social Work department to obtain all required consents prior to medical appointment. 

• Schedules appointments based on nurses’ availability and communicates appointment to inpatient team or hospital staff to include Nursing and DCS.

•  Ensures transportation is available for off-site scheduled appointments by scheduling the appropriate vehicle on the vehicle assignment calendar. 

• Ensures recommendations are documented by physician at appointment, submits recommendations to Health Information to have scanned into patient's electronic health record.

• Communicates updated patient information, patient orders and/or medication changes to parents/guardians, and hospital staff to include Nursing and DCS.

• Ensures all exam rooms are stocked with supplies and that all medical equipment is operational and ready for use and complies with all hospital and CMS standards.

• Responsible for the implementation and data collection of Nursing Clinic QAPI indicators.  Submits reports and participates in the nursing QAPI meetings.

• Attends summer field trips as RN when schedule allows.

About J.D. McCarty Center:

At J.D. McCarty Center patients are admitted for a 30-day evaluation during which they are assigned a treatment team consisting of nursing unit, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutritional services, social services, psychological services, behavioral analysis, and recreational therapy. Our 80-acre s campus includes an on-site elementary, intermediate, and high school which is staffed by Norman Public School teachers. Patients may continue treatment needs beyond the 30-days as an in-patient in habilitation status based upon progress or placement needs. We are a tobacco and vape free facility.
