What You Will Do

  • JOB SUMMARY

Support Operations and the Electrical and Maintenance Departments by providing leadership and advanced technical guidance and advancedelectronic/automationskills (with some technical guidance from senior level staff) to help minimize production downtime. Collaborate on the design and application of highly advanced and complex electronic systems, including programming, to accomplish desired results. Manage assigned projects and provide automation support as part of the Operational Production Team to Electricians, Engineering Specialist, and Project Engineering. Partners with senior staff for implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of electronic automation and control systems throughout Operations.

  • WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Apply hands on expert knowledge of manufacturing equipment to include, but not limited to, VFD, PLC (AB-Semiens-Beckholf etc.), HMI, Networking including Profibus -Control Net – DeviceNet - EtherNet, Control Panels and Industrial PCs, Thin Clients, Auto Guided Vehicles, High speed Make Pack Equipment, Robots, Servo Drives, Quality Check Cameras and Scanners, Bar Code Readers, Microwave head calibration and adjustment, VMware proficiency, Marking systems, Laser and Ink Jet Printers, Lot Tracking, Laser production Equipment, Data Acquisition and Reconciliation , Warehouse Storage and retrieval systems, Machine parameter/centerline governance, Backup and Recovery Imaging, Waste Reduction, Basic IT skills for communications troubleshooting, Load Cell and Weighing Devices, Blending Equipment including Bulkers, motors, conveyors, Spray Application Systems, Process piping knowledge proficiency (including piping, valves, pneumatic, pumps, flowmeters, etc.), Lot Tracking -POloading/downloading/troubleshooting,Data Acquisition Reporting systems, etc.

  • Proficiency in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. The position will perform high-level machine and system troubleshooting and repair, specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems, and provide technical support for all phases of the operation.

  • Support Plant Facilities Maintenance Dept., Plant Production Maintenance Dept., Plant Engineering Dept., and Operations by applying highly advanced electrical technical knowledge and training to all the mentioned above, as well as advanced ET system training and mentorship, including programming and machine troubleshooting for electrical and automated systems throughout the facility. Also supports Powerhouse initiatives as needed i.e. Steam Valves, Cooling Towers, AC Penthouses, etc. Change Control compliance. Understand and analyze trend data to determine root cause for improvement.

  • Maintain/recommend adequate spare parts for production and facility equipment by evaluating the M&R spare part inventory, set up parts for new equipment, and recommend and locate replacements for obsolescence issues as they occur.

  • Partner with Loss Teams, Mini Business Units, Maintenance Supervisors, and electronic technicians in analyzing equipment performance, Root Cause analysis, identifying sources of repeat failure, recommending solutions, and assisting with implementation of solution.

  • Advanced Instrumentation knowledge and background to support installation, qualification and calibration of Instrumentation throughout the facility ensure audit records are always current and in compliance. Manage calibration data records and test equipment certification and compliance.

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years industry related experience, or Associate’s degree in Electronics, or the equivalent, and select advanced engineering courses with 3+ years of experience with electronic controls and instrumentation including design work

  • Electronics controls, instrumentations, and design work

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Knowledge of:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams

  • Manufacturing automation systems

  • IWS and Lean manufacturing, a plus

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Environment and Physical Demand

  • Requires moderate physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves objects up to 10 lbs.

  • Reach and grasp objects / hand eye coordination.

  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Walks, sits, or stands for extended periods.

  • Requires prolonged machine operation including vehicle, computer, and keyboard equipment.

  • Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills.

  • Identify and distinguish color and shades of color.

  • Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury.

  • Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions including second-hand smoke and/or vape.

  • Risk for occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
