Miller Milling Elevator Manager in Oakland, California

Summary:

This position leads team members to manage incoming wheat and outgoing shipments within the mill. Responsible for supervising the elevator department, identifying bottle necks, increasing efficiencies and resolving issues. This role also ensures production resources including materials and equipment are available as needed to maintain production schedules.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 annually

Primary Duties:

Elevator Management

  • Responsible for incoming wheat logistics, unloading, and blending

  • Manages the daily physical inventory process, inputs information in elevator report, and distributes to proper personnel

  • Responsible for coordination of shuttle unload

  • Works closely with Head Miller to determine proper wheat blends to mill

  • Works closely with Minneapolis grain buying team and is direct contact for wheat logistic questions

  • Provides direct supervision for annex operators, rail car cleaners, and rail car blow back personnel

  • Responsible for outgoing rail logistics including the shipment of finished product rail cars

  • Manages the rail car blow back logistics involving storage cars and buy-in flour

  • Works closely with QA to maintain wheat sampling and retain storage

  • Ensures Master Sanitation Schedule in annex is followed and schedules such responsibilities

  • Provides job specific training for direct reports

  • Schedules preventative maintenance in the elevator, train shed, Switch Engine, and general facility grounds

  • Responsible for sanitation of annex, train shed, rail shed, and facility grounds

  • Responsible for railroad track maintenance and inspections

  • Complies with all State and Federal regulations

Internal and External Partnerships

  • Partner/collaborate with Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) and Quality to ensure the safety of the employees and products delivered to our customers.

  • Work with grain buyers to develop wheat blends to optimize quality and profits.

  • Partner with local railroad representative to ensure timely delivery of rail cars on switches and manages demurrage for the mill.

  • Work with all departments to achieve the plant goals as a key member of the management staff.

Other Responsibilities

  • Conduct plant wide safety training on a periodic basis.

Perform other responsibilities as requested.
