Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

The Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment by conducting quality control analysis to evaluate performance while ensuring compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. The Mechanic must possess knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Heavy equipment includes Excavators, Backhoe, Bulldozer, Graders, Trenchers, Loaders, Cranes, forklifts, Pavers, Compactors, and diesel engines.

Hard Skills

  • Repair and maintain industrial production and processing machinery

  • Reassemble equipment after inspections, testing, or repairs

  • Operate newly repaired machinery to verify repairs

  • Record repairs and maintenance performed

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts

  • Test mechanical products to ensure proper performance

  • Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment

  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings

  • Diagnose faults using engine diagnostic equipment

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 90 Day(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Oakland, California.

Work Environment

The work environment is a steel, metal, and auto recycling company that has been around for over 100 years. The site in Oakland has an inside production area and a large outdoor yard. The environment includes heavy machinery, moving parts, loud noises, and is very dirty. The Mechanic will work throughout the entire facility, both outside and inside, as needed.
