Dollar Tree Automation Operations Manager in Ocala, Florida

This role oversees all aspects of the operation of a highly automated case storage and order fulfillment system, which is the key element of a full service, high volume, retail distribution operating multiple shifts. The purpose of this role is to manage and coordinate the replenishment, storage and order fulfillment of this technology within the overall DC operation for producing a consistently high output performance. The position ensures that work is performed according to SOPs while meeting productivity and quality goals and fostering a culture of safety. The manager is a hands-on leader who is capable of meeting aggressive production goals while mentoring and developing a team of 20+ associates in a technology focused environment. The AOM works with the DC Operations Manager to accomplish production goals in an efficient manner and works closely with the maintenance team to ensure a high availability of the automated fulfillment system. The Automation Operations Manager sets the standard by exemplifying Dollar Tree’s high standards of integrity and customer service.

Key Responsibilities in the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage associates following the Core Values of the organization.

  • Accountability for all department goals.

  • Maintain a consistent floor presence.

  • Coordinating and managing the efficient use of the automation technology within the order fulfillment of the DC

  • Balancing the workload across the different pick areas

  • Plan weekly and daily production for the technology

  • Review weekly production plans with management and associates

  • Monitoring, assessing, managing, and making recommendations to key productivity indicators, such as financial, productivity, service, and people goals in order to reduce and control costs

  • Create an environment of continuous improvement for improving efficiencies of the use of technology with the order fulfillment process

  • Assist in developing tools to increase the productivity of the automation technology

  • Guide, coordinate and manage the replenishment cycles of the operation to the technology to assure sufficient inventory levels are

  • Ensuring accuracy, housekeeping, merchandise damage minimization, and safety through monitoring and enforcement of company requirements

  • Managing the development, implementation, and administration of operational policies, programs, and systems within functional areas across all shifts; Establish methods and procedures for departmental work activities; identify and resolve operational problems; communicate expertise and approvals concerning departmental activities

  • Partnering with the HR team on hiring, orienting, training, mentoring, evaluating, recommending pay increases, and developing associates as well as carrying out disciplinary actions or recommending termination of employment as appropriate

  • Sharing and providing appropriate information to and anticipating information needs of all technology associates including the maintenance team

  • Preparing various statistics and reports for functional area of responsibility

  • Performing work without significant direction; Assignments are often self-initiated; Exercises considerable judgment in determining objectives and approaches to assignments; Work is reviewed and evaluated in terms of meeting organizational objectives and schedules

Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in business administration, technology, engineering or logistics preferred

  • Minimum of ten years distribution center management, operations experience including intense exposure to automated material handling systems for storage and/or order fulfillment or equivalent, and inventory mamagement

  • Good working knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures

  • Experience in maintaining complex material handling systems is a plus

  • Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills

  • Strong analytical ability to gather and interpret information and develop, recommend, and implement solutions, cross functional partnerships on project management

  • Requires rapid and thorough independent decision making and creative problem solving skills, good judgment as well as the ability to accept personal and departmental accountability for areas of responsibility

  • PC skills to include: Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access); Working knowledge of WMS System, SQL, and CMMS.

  • Must be flexible to working various shifts in accordance with business needs

What we offer you:

Compensation range $87,000- $95,000 and eligible to receive bonus target and RSU's
