Job Title: Machine Operator

Job Description

We are seeking skilled machine operators to start and stop the concrete block machine. The role involves ensuring blocks stay in line, performing daily cleaning, and changing out programs. The operator will be responsible for producing concrete products, inspecting quality, monitoring equipment, performing minor repairs, and maintaining an orderly work area.

Responsibilities

• Operate the concrete block machine.

• Produce concrete products from raw materials to the Yard stage.

• Inspect product quality according to standards such as height, color, shape, and corners.

• Monitor the operation of various equipment including the block machine, batcher, mixer, bucket, conveyors, loader, unloader, and kilns to detect and report malfunctions.

• Maintain, adjust, and perform minor repairs on the block machine and associated equipment.

• Change molds as required.

• Start up and shut down the block machine; keep written records of production.

• Relieve other personnel for breaks.

• Communicate changes in product size, color, and cubing patterns to the Cuber and Production List.

• Perform daily preventative maintenance checklists and fill out maintenance request forms as needed.

Essential Skills

• Prior machine operating experience.

• Minimal troubleshooting experience.

• Ability to perform labor duties.

• Alertness to stop the conveyor if blocks fall out of line and straighten them.

• Reliable transportation and excellent attendance record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Must have steel-toed boots.

• Ability to work in all weather conditions and flexible hours as needed.

Work Environment

The work environment is a dusty, dirty plant that manufactures stone pavers and landscaping blocks. It is a loud plant where you will wear a hard hat, ear plugs, and a mask. The facility is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Overtime work is often required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Odenton, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00
