The* Office of Professional Standards (OPS)* provides oversight responsibility for the agency's complaint and disciplinary procedures. OPS is tasked with ensuring that the disciplinary process is conducted fairly, that all administrative investigations are complete, impartial, objective, and consistent, and that standardized discipline is imposed.

 

Duties

This position supports the Agency goal to build a culture of trust, collaboration, and continuous performance improvement. It supports our key values of earning the trust and confidence of the public through professional excellence, acting with integrity and accountability, respecting and protecting individual rights, and building a culture of continuous improvement. The incumbent will support these goals and values by providing internal and external customer service, assist with Internal Affairs, inquiries, and provides office-wide assistance to the Division to include the Captain, Confidential Secretary, Lieutenant, two Forms and Records Analyst 3's, and a Data Consultant 1. 

Our new teammate will be able to:

Conduct supervisory duties over the Forms and Records Analyst 3's, and the Data Consultant 1. 

Provide expectations, review work products, ensure required training is completed, and challenge, support, and mentor both positions.

Perform complex secretarial duties such as reviewing administrative investigations for appropriate documentation in compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) by applying knowledge of the Agency Regulation Manual, policies, and procedures.

Resolve problems and respond to inquiries regarding case investigation process and status.

Handle and prepare confidential and sensitive documents and reports.  

Retrieve disciplinary histories from the OPS Remedy database.

Track agency complaints and works with Appointing Authorities to ensure timely responses to complainants and/or referral to the OPS process occurs within bargained timelines.

Update/establish procedures and interprets and applies administrative policies.

Maintain and provide recommendations for updates to the Office of Professional Standard's Administrative Investigative Manual(s), both commissioned and civil service, to the Division Commander.

Make decisions for Division Commander on administrative matters.

Prepare briefing materials, reports, and other supporting materials to be used by the Division Commander, to include gathering data and analysis and presented in user friendly diagrams/graphics.  

Organize office procedures and prepare official correspondence for supervisors.

Provide a high degree of support and guidance to program and support staff to ensure compliance with agency administrative requirements.

Monitor contract budget, service fees, and resolves contractual issues.

Direct and/or coordinate special projects.

Assist Lieutenant with locating and compiling case documents for WAPA and CJTC requests.
