Position Overview

Seeking an experienced senior automation engineer to lead a highly advanced network support team, focusing on maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance of equipment such as conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices and programs.

Client Duties and Responsibilities:

§ Understand, maintain and troubleshoot material handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems

§ Monitor MHE metrics and partner with facilities/operations for system performance issues and provide analysis and solutions across all supported FC's.

§ Act as escalation support, both locally and assigned FC's or remotely troubleshoot and repair all hardware or controls software systems within the building. Appropriately escalate downtime situations to vendors for support to restore equipment operation.

§ Facilitate Failure Analysis and Incident Review processes and implement process improvements or retraining to avoid future incidents. Create technical program playbooks and procedures.

§ Assist with skill assessments for the Technical positions within Facilities teams.

§ Conducts readiness audits and technical drills.

§ Develops specifications and assist in solicitation and administration of maintenance/repair service contracts.

§ Coordinate technical resources to support commissioning, training, and IQOQ within supported FC’s.

§ Train and develop Control Systems personnel on controls systems concepts and procedures.

§ Contribute to knowledge base through development of Policies, Procedures, and Standard Work documents.

§ Proven ability to manage several concurrent projects successfully.

§ Assist with process and procedure training as requested.

§ Perform reliability analysis of the maintenance program by performing in-depth root cause analysis (RCA).

§ Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift / carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more

§ Performs other duties as assigned.

§ Ability to travel up to 50% to various fulfillment centers is required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university and a minimum of four years’ experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge and understanding of all applicable practices and techniques, laws, project controls and environmental regulations to include safety regulations.

PREFERRED QUAILFICATIONS

§ 8+ years troubleshooting complex automation systems

§ 6+ years Allen Bradley PLC programming experience using RSLogix 5000 and RSLinx experience with at least two full cycle of PLC ladder logic code design, development and testing

§ Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and intranet/internet.

§ Experience with creating automated alarms, reports and KPI metrics through scripting knowledge

§ Experience with creating HMI for operational equipment configuration and settings

§ Strong knowledge in project development methodology, clear verbal and written communication skills, has the ability to handle daily activities in a dynamic environment and drive deliverables.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing strategic solutions. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on improving performance.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with in-depth understanding and interpretation of procedures, company policies and business practices to achieve complex results. Responsible for setting project, department and/or division deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause long-term impact to line of business and/or overall company.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Sr. Controls Systems Engineer position is $150,000.00 annually [or $72.12 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Sr. Controls Systems Engineer position is $175,000.00 annually [or $84.13 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
