Geotechnical engineers will take samples from the field crews and evaluate soil, rock, and underground water to determine the feasibility and design specifications for construction projects. This role involves sitting onsite at Offutt Air Force Base to perform geotechnical analysis and studies to assess construction site conditions. The engineer will act as a liaison between the field crew, project managers, and engineers, planning and conducting geotechnical exploration effectively.
Responsibilities
Plan and conduct geotechnical exploration effectively.
Perform field and environmental investigations for construction projects.
Inspect and check quality and participate in the execution of soil sampling 20% of the time.
Analyze geotechnical findings, perform appropriate calculations, and prepare data reports for the Project Manager.
Provide direction to the technical team in field inspection activities.
Interact with customers and team members to complete the assigned project on time.
Review construction design proposals and approve geotechnical aspects.
Essential Skills
Construction inspection, administration, and materials testing.
Minimum of an Associate's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
1-5 years of commercial construction experience.
Must pass MVR, Slump test, ACI certification, NICET, concrete testing, observation, and inspection.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience as an inspector, observer, surveyor, or CMT preferred.
Capability to manage a team and move into a project engineering role.
Organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated successful experience in client service management.
Proven leadership experience including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office.
Proficiency in decision-making and solving complex problems.
Understanding of geotechnical practices including exploration, analysis, and design.
Work Environment
The role involves 20% in-office planning and documentation and 70% onsite at the Offutt Air Force Base, a loud and dirty commercial construction site. The candidate will report to the Project Manager in Geotechnical Engineering and act as a liaison between field crews, project managers, and engineers. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00
